How did May the E.K come about?
I had been working in the magazine industry in Sydney for the last 15 years as a fashion stylist and had always fantasised about living in Byron. When I came across the beautiful vintage pink EK Holden it set me on a new path and ‘May The E.K’ was born!
What has been the best part? Being a part of someone’s memories; they won’t remember me but in 10, 20, 30 years time they will say ‘remember when we hired that amazing pink car for our wedding?’ I try to always ask couples if they have a special song, which I play when I drive them after the ceremony, this adds to the romance of the experience.
What passes the time for you? Exploring hidden spots around Byron and the Hinterland in May The E.K, 80’s dancing in The Cassettes and taking funny photos of my dog @mrarchiebear.
Stranded on an island, what do you take? A case of chardonnay, a hammock and a good book!
Best customer memory? On one of my first weddings it poured with rain, the Bride and Groom were so happy and so inlove and it was raining so hard that they had to have their wedding photos taken inside May. It was so romantic; I played 60’s love songs and the windows were all steamed up and they sat kissing and giggling in the back seat. I get goosebumps thinking about how beautiful it was.
